We have just heard that we have received full funding from RBWM for a community orchard and hedging for our garden. To read more about the RBWM Community Orchard Project please visit https://www.rbwm.gov.uk/news/royal-borough-announces-successful-projects-awarded-funding-create-community-orchards
On Sunday 24th March, 11 volunteers gathered at the hall to plant the fruit trees in our new community orchard.
With the weather being kind to us, with a little bit of sunshine and the ground having dried out a bit after the recent heavy rain we planted 14 fruit trees. A quince tree that was out of stock at the time of ordering is still to be planted along with the hedge. Unfortunately, due to the grant being paid in March, it was too late to order and supply the bare rooted hedge but this will now be done next winter.
Thank you to Val and Rod Lord, Adrian and Sarah Grace, Tom Pottinger, Rob Drysdale, Luke Burnage, Penny Anthony, Alison Bradshaw , Trisha Pottinger and Barbara Frame for all your help in planting the trees.
The Community Orchard will be available to visit on June 23rd 2024 as part of the Open Gardens Event.
